Tom Sears Jr. captures Tracey Road DIRTcar Gold on Rain-Shortened Ferris Mowers Night By Hannah DollBREWERTON, NY (May 18, 2024) – One-hundred and twenty cars greeted spectators Friday night at Brewerton Speedway as Ferris Mowers with Trux Outfitters presented an electrifying night of racing. Despite imminent rain showers crossing over CNY, teams and track crews made a courageous effort to complete the show. After completing the modified feature, the night concluded just shy of that goal. Tom Sears Jr. would lead every lap, outdueling defending 2023 track champion Tim Sears Jr. for his first Tracey Road DIRTcar Modified feature win of the season.

The 35-lap feature began with Chris Hulsizer and Tom Sears Jr. pacing the field to green. From his outside front-row starting position, Sears quickly charged around Hulsizer to grab the early race lead. While Tom Sears Jr. drove away, every spot behind him contested in side-by-side battles for positions. The night’s first caution on lap 13 temporarily erased Sears’ lead, but he quickly reestablished his dominance as the race resumed.

Late-race cautions on laps 22 and 29 brought the field together again, setting the stage for a late-race battle. Defending track champion Tim Sears Jr. made an impressive charge from the 14th starting position, relentlessly pursuing Tom Sears Jr. during the final laps. Despite testing multiple lines to overtake the race lead, Tim Sears Jr. could not edge past Uncle Tom Sears Jr., who secured the win with by a margin of 0.3 seconds.

With Tom Sears Jr. picking up the win, Tim Sears Jr. would settle for a hard-fought second place, with Matt Caprara rounding out the podium positions. 16th starter Jimmy Phelps delivered a fantastic run, charging his way to 4th place, with Chris Hile rounding out the top 5.

Pj Goodwin took home the win in the 20-lap Hustle the Highway 600cc Modified event in their first of four appearances at the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon” this season. Charles Lohmeyer would settle for second, with Tyler Talada, Samuel Hubbard, and Doug Windhausen rounding out the top 5.

AmeriCU Mod Lites, Mirabito 4-Cylinders and Dot Foods Sportsman were rained out and will be rescheduled to a later date to be announced.
