Hi Everybody!

Dirt Mod Racer Jamie Yannone has become The Man from U.N.C.L.E. He’s always on the case and nobody is supposed to know who he really is. I think that’s why I ask for him ti introduce himself every time I see him. Every. Time.

Also today is Our Bethel Prince Colten Joseph Dunham’s 2nd Birthday! As I was talking with the Smith Racing Family, Birthday’s 1 and two are milestones. After that ir’s double digits, 16, 18, 21 and next the decades and they just fly by! Colten Joseph, always the happiest guy on earth hadn’t had coffee yet after his nap and was a little less than thrilled about turning two. Hey, I’m not a morning person either. I got a fist bump from our Little Prince and that swelled my heart! Then my Assistant Makenzie Houghtaling to a short break from Pit Duties and came up to say Hi so by now I was on cloud 9! I mosied around the pits, had a lengthy talk with Car Owner Scot Sanford and was all ready to settle in when the news was broken to me: No chili. Thank Goodness Racer John Hager was there to save the day buying me a long dog! So here I go!

Our First pair of Winners today were the first Father and Son. Kyle Welsch racing The Joe Barnes Pro Stock #21 as a Renegade against Ton Katz in the 4cyl Mod #84. A Staggered start gave Katz a half lap head start and it didn’t take but 5 laps for Welsch to catch up and sail to the win in the Feature.

Kyle’s Son Colten raced in Beginners Bandoleros #357 against the venerable 003, Levi Houghtaling of Misfit Motorsports and with a bit more racing under his young belt. Welsch to an early lead and held on until the end getting his First Feature Win ever on this Father’s Day Weekend with Mom recording the race from the stands. Some Little Guys moving toward something big!

Big Brother Easton Houghtaling, James Bauernfiend and Brother and Sister Racers #102 Jordan Smith and #99 Alyson Smith raced the INEX Bandos Feature that started off on the wrong foot. At the green all 4 came around turn two with Bauernfiend leading Houghtaling and Jordan, set on making a move did just that but not the move he wanted as he tangled up with his sister out of turn one and ended her day while he pitted with a left rear flat tire. The 99 was towed off under red. Jordan rejoined the field

On the restart Smith overtakes Bauernfiend in turn 4 as 03 Easton Houghtaling hit the Crisco Corner out of turn 4 and spun bringing out the caution. The race restarts and with Smith leading on lap 5 he gets wide out of turn 2 allowing Bauernfiend the pass for the lead. With Bauernfiend pulling away Houghtaling and Smith battle for second until they both spin out of two with no contact. Bauernfiend and Houghtaling restart the caution with Smith taking P2, then giving it up to Houghtaling. That’s how it ended with Bauernfiend first to cross the finish line, Houghtaling P2 and Smith P3.

I’m told Dirt Mod Racer Ritchie Coons’ hauler broke down on the way to the Speedway leaving Chris Cooke to race the Throwback Bob Favre #39 against Jamie Yannone and Ed Dachenhausen. Dachenhausen on the pole alongside Cooke quickly changed to Yannone giving Dachenhausen a run for his money with Yannone tapping Dachenhausen on the bumper and the two of them glued to each other in a nail biter that ended with Dachenhausen Victorious and almost one with Yannone!

In a kind of a throwback to two seasons ago, 4cyl Mod Racer Dan Houghtaling ran the 03M with Tisha Curry in a new #14, Frank Bauernfiend’s blue Race Car Papa Smurf and Tucker Katz reprising his role in the #84. Curry and Houghtaling take the pole, then Curry takes off with all the magic of the Smurfs! Curry leads the entire race well ahead of Katz and Houghtaling, both spaced apart. (I almost said spaced out but that would be a throwback to the ’70’s for me). With just 5 laps left Katz gives Curry a run for her money and came up a little short of the checkered followed by Houghtaling.

Our BMS Asphalt Mods tonight are started with Veteran Racer John Cote alongside #98 Bill Deak Sr. Rounding turn 4 Deak slipped up and slipped back toward P5 with #5 Lightning Bolt Skip LaPolt battling Cote ahead and Dachenhausen alongside. Several times the three of them rounded turn 4 three wide. Cote with his foot in the carburetor held the lead by a whisker to win the Feature followed by Dachenhausen who had clipped the infield bumpers out of turn one,, LaPolt, Dudtka and Deak Sr.

Three cars entered the 4cyl Novice Nightcapper today: Frank Bauernfiend this time in the Blue #14, Kylee Curry in the #1 and Shane Turner in the Dan/Makenzie Houghtaling owned 03M. Bauernfiend and Curry have the post with Curry dropping the hammer at the drop of the Green. Swooping like a hawk around the turns, Curry left the fight to the two guys and glided right across the finish line taking the double checkers ahead of Bauernfiend and Turner!

Tomorrow is Father’s Day and I wish all the Fathers out there the best! Next week we will have the ACOTs and the ECTQMs in the House for their Pinebrook Reunion Night in addition to our regularly scheduled program! I’ll see all Y’all then! Until then, be safe and keep those wheels turning!
