The Racing Times Goes “One on One” with Sami Anderson
(TRT) YOUR 2023 PLANS?
SAMI ANDERSON “In 2023, my plan is to race weekly at both Stafford and Waterford in the SKL division”
(TRT) YOU WON AT WATERFORD LAST YEAR, HOW BIG WAS THAT WIN?
SAMI ANDERSON “The last race of the year in 2022, I got my first win. To FINALLY have something to show for my small but strong team, that was incredible. I was extremely proud in that moment to keep my families racing legacy alive and bring the Anderson / Membrino name to victory lane”.
(TRT) WHO DO YOU WANT TO THANK THATS HELPING IN RACING?
SAMI ANDERSON “None of this would be possible without my sponsors. I’d like to thank Royal Screw Machine Products, Classic Builders CT, Arizona Roofing, Spear Bro’s Tree Services, Advanced Dental, Phoenix Pre Owned Motors, Reidville Used Auto, my entire family, my whole crew”.
(TRT) YOUR FAVORITE RACING STORY?
SAI ANDERSON “It is so hard to just pick one story. I am a third generation driver on my dad’s side of the family “Anderson,” and I am a fourth generation driver on my mom’s side of the family “Membrino.”
“My great uncle John Anderson (JA) was battling with Bo Gunning. Under caution, John put his car in reverse and perfectly back over the top of Bo’s car. The old school racing stories are hands down my favorite. When I see Bo Gunning at any race track, it immediately puts a smile on my face because of the wild races that him and my great uncle put on”.
WHO IS SAMI ANDERSON THE DRIVER? THE PERSON?
SAMI. ANDERSON “I never give up. I’m not scared to make a bold move, which works for me and against me all at once. I think my best quality is my willingness to learn, and the drive that I have to better myself”
.
(TRT) BEING A FEMALE, IS GETTING SPONSOS EASIER OR HARDER?
SAMI ANDERSON “ like to think my personality and relatability is the main reason why I bring in sponsors. I think the most important thing about sponsorship is creating a partnership and finding new ways to help the people that help me. I am very proud that I am a female in a male dominated sport. But, above all, I am a very proud that I am in general a very competitive driver. I’m no different than anyone else out there on the race track. My team is very passionate about racing and each week we strive for success as a whole.
”
(TRT) THE MEM DRIVERS, DO. DRIVE YOU DIFFERENT?
SAMI ANDERSON “BEING, the female racers are the worst to race against. It definitely isn’t a “sisterhood” by any means. Despite how anyone drives me, every time I go to the track, I’m there to do my thing. My team shows up and the only thing that matters is our car. My whole family is there and for the day they become my crew.”
(TRT)DO YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO HELP YOU IN RACING?
SAMI ANDERSON “I think social media is a wonderful outlet to showcase my sponsors. I always try to do anything that I can do to help highlight the businesses that believe in me and my dreams.
(TRT) APPLE OR ANDROID?
SAMI ANDERSON “Apple, however I think the quality of the camera on the Android is the best”.
(TRT) FACEBOOK OR TWITTER?
SAMI ANDERSON “Facebook! I feel like twitter is for the drama, and I definitely am not about that.”
(TRT) DO YOU EVER WANT TO MOVE UP TO A TOUR MODIFIED?
SAMI ANDERSON “Of course I would love to race something with more horsepower! I have followed the Tour for a long time and I can honestly say I am not a fan of the racing. I think the weekly divisions put on an incredible show and the weekly drivers are the die-hard old school racers. The Open Modifieds put on wonderful shows and maybe one day, as long as it makes sense, I’ll drive one.”
(TRT) ONE THING YOU WANT THE FANS ABOUT YOU, THEY WOULDN’ KNOW?
SAMI ANDERSON “I am a very hard worker. A day in the life of Sami looks a little something like this: I work a full-time job, go to school, and go to the race shop. “
(TRT)YEARS MOD? YEARS IN RACING?
SAMI ANDERSON “ have in total about 50 races under my belt in a SKL. Prior to the modifieds, I ran about half a season in a street stock at Stafford”. I
