Here are some fun facts about Matt:

1.  Matt Worked on fire crew at Stafford about 20 years ago. I’ve always wanted to race and being this close got me thinking what everyone in the stands think, “ I can do better than that!” Well I’m proof that it’s definitely harder than it looks!!
2.  Matt has always been into building cars, trucks and bikes. Races some scca autocross for a little bit. 
3. Matt had a friend who’s kid races cars at Waterford. After going and watching he was hooked!! I can afford this! Still thinking I can do way better than most of them. he picked up an old whip city dirt car from another friend, converted it and off he went! Car was extremely slow but was a blast to be out there!! Unfortunately cars needed too much to meet rules and be competitive. Matt found an acura integra and tripped it down and started building it on his own in my garage. He hadn’t built an actual race car before but he had the skills, tools and the rules! Matt had raced a few years at Waterford and during 2020 went up to Hudson NH for half a season. He started building a second car also. 
4. Matt always really liked the street stocks at Stafford since he was young. He had met the Jet Motorsports team through a mutual sponsor and became friends immediately. Then an opportunity came up to rent a car they had and of course he jumped on it!! Before he even made it to the track the first time he posted all my car stuff for sale, he knew there was no coming back from here!! It’s been a blast he doesn’t regret any of it, he made tons of friends at both tracks which makes the experience even better!! 
5.  Last but not least, the nickname “Gasman” one of Matt’s early years with the car he was rushing to finish putting the car together. Then rushing to get to his first race of the season, everything was working against him, got out of work late, hustled to get everything loaded, inclined the family, stressed overload!! Finally heading to the track, Carrie, his wife, asks me “do you have gas?” He replies “there’s plenty in the car I won’t burn that much in one night” She then asks “do you have a can, sure you don’t want to stop just in case?” “No I’m good just want to get there” Of course being Matt’s first race of the season he got a ton of people in the stands to watch, night was going good… head out for the feature driving around the back of the track car hiccups, hhmm well that weird but still running lets go!! Pull onto the track, the car dies, gets pushed off track it starts then dies just before my trailer,can’t figure it out, checks the tank.. Empty ughh. Carrie blows up in disbelief lol after bugging me, I run out of gas!! The GM of the Speedbowl at the time, Mike Serluca, comes by and hears the story laughing and nicknames me gasman!! Matt was introduced as gasman from there on out and since then have made it a point to stop on the way to the track for fuel no matter what! And of course my wife has not let me forget, He should have listened to her!!

1. John was Born in Worcester, went to college a year early and skipped 12th grade
2. John never met his paternal grandfather, he was a machinist and a decorated WWII vet. His grandfather led the army reserve barracks on lake ave in Worcester
3. John has a Bachelors in Business Management, his Masters in Business, a minor in information design/corporate communication and is a licensed general contractor in North Carolina
4. John has been successful at many things in life, but has always wanted to win in a Tour Modified. That’s part of why he races
5. John got back into racing a few years ago for his daughter, so she has a successful and top modified team to race for if she ever decides to chase racing
