SOUTH BOSTON, VAโ€ฆโ€ฆKaden Honeycutt held off Conner Jones by a half a car length in a two-lap dash to the finish that followed the raceโ€™s final caution period to win the 125-lap zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Tour race that headlined Saturday nightโ€™s AutosByNelson.com Race at South Boston Speedway.

The win was Honeycuttsโ€™s first zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Tour win with Tom Usry Racing and it was worth $10,000. Honeycutt had a previous win with Tom Usry Racing, that one coming in last yearโ€™s non-sanctioned Orange Krush 250 at Orange County Speedway.

โ€œItโ€™s an amazing feeling,โ€ Honeycutt said of his first career South Boston Speedway victory. โ€œIt was an awesome race. I love racing here. I love the way the track races.โ€

Honeycutt, who competes in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, was a half a lap away from winning the race only to have the caution flag come out when Ronnie Bassett Jr. crashed into the first turn wall on the final lap. That set up a two-lap dash to decide the outcome and send the race into overtime.

The Aledo, Texas resident got a good jump on the restart and fended off Jones (Fredericksburg, Virginia) by a half a car length (.085 second).

โ€œI just needed a little more,โ€ said Jones. โ€œI thought we had a shot. We had a really good car. Mike Darne and all the guys brought me a really good piece. I was really confident in our stuff all night. I could go anywhere I wanted to, on the top, on the bottom, it was good.โ€

Loftin, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Lewis of Supply, North Carolina and Mason Diaz of Manassas, Virginia rounded out the top five finishers. Lanie Buice of Jackson, Georgia, Tristan McKee of Kannapolis, North Carolina, Kade Brown of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Trevor Ward of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Landon Huffman of Claremont, North Carolina rounded out the top 10 finishers in the 27-car field.

The race was highly competitive one. Unofficially, there were four lead changes among four drivers. It was also an eventful one with five caution periods in the last 36 laps.

Honeycutt took the lead when race leader Mini Tyrell and his challenger, Tristan McKee, were involved in an incident on lap 112 while battling for the lead that brought out the caution flag.

Right after the restart Parker Eatmon, Doug Barnes, Connor Hall, Landon S. Huffman and Landon Huffman were involved in a major crash in the first turn that resulted in the race being put under the red flag.

Honeycutt led the rest of the way, surviving Jonesโ€™ bid for the win following Bassettโ€™s crash on lap 124.

โ€œIt was kind of eventful at the end, but we were able to persevere, and keep our head down and be locked in,โ€ Honeycutt noted.

Keelan Harvick Wins 100-lap zMAX CARS Pro Late Model Tour Race

Young Keelan Harvick earned his third win of the season on the zMAX CARS Tour Pro Late Model Tour in the 100-lap zMAX CARS Pro Late Model Tour race that was the co-feature race of Saturday nightโ€™s AutosByNelson.com Race Night event at South Boston Speedway.

Harvick took the lead from Ben Maier of Chester, Maryland on the 48th lap and led the rest of the way, edging Maier by .677-second to take the win.

โ€œRobert Arch (Harvickโ€™s spotter) just told me to go as fast as I could go,โ€ Harvick said, โ€œbut I didnโ€™t want to spin out because that would be embarrassing. I just pushed it to the limit as hard as I could.โ€

Brandon Lopez of Woodstock, Georgia finished third with NASCAR Xfinity Series regular Harrison Burton of Huntersville, North Carolina and 16-year-old Isaac Kitzmiller of Petersburg, West Virginia who on Thursday captured the 2025 ARCA Menards Series East championship, rounded out the top five finishers in the 16-car field.

Unofficially there were four lead changes between Harvick and Maier.
