MATT HIRSCHMAN WINS THE 37TH ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO TOMMY DRUAR AND TONY JANKOWIAK AT LANCASTER MOTORPLEX THIS PAST SATURDAY
– Hirschman’s 71st Career Victory –
Lancaster, NY (August 17, 2026) – Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA took the lead just past the halfway mark of the 37th annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak at Lancaster (NY) Motorplex and used an excellent pitstop from his team to propel himself back to victory lane in Race of Champions Modified Series competition.
Hirschman was able to capitalize on an incident involving race leader Austin Kochenash of Danielsville, PA and second place runner Paulie Hartwig of Galloway, NJ, which placed Hirschman as the leader. He did not relinquish the position.
“We had a good night,” stated Hirschman in victory lane. “We weren’t the fastest car in the event at times or even all day. We had to work for it. My guys gave me a great stop and Jake (Lutz) kept the pressure on. We haven’t had a start to an RoC season like this in a long time and it has just kept going. I need to thank everyone. Our family, our sponsors, just everyone. This couldn’t have worked out better for us.”
Lutz of Hamburg, NY wound up second. Hartwig drove his way back to third.
Mike Leaty of Williamson, NY came home fourth and Kochenash recovered for fifth..
Andrew Lewis, Jr., of Ontario, NY; Hirschman and Hartwig won the qualifying races. Lutz posted the fastest time in green-white-checker qualifying.
