Andy Bachetti was able to take the lead from Chris Curtis with three laps to go Saturday night. From there, he was able to hold on to take his second win of the year despite not really having a great car.
“I was kinda out of the racetrack all night,” Bachetti said in victory lane. “I don’t know what the deal was, but the cautions definitely helped.”
Bachetti won by .618 seconds over Curtis. Kolby Schroder was third, then Marc Johnson and L.J. Lombardo.
Ryan Charland started from the pole, but didn’t get the best start. That allowed Rob Maxon to get to the advantage. J.R. Heffner, despite not liking his car during hot laps, was quick early on and got himself to the lead by lap 6.
Trouble for Alan Houghtaling on lap 8 brought out a yellow and put the field back together. That allowed Kyle Sheldon to get the drop on Heffner and take the lead. Once out front, Sheldon opened a couple of seconds over the pack and things looked good.
Until he cut his right rear tire with five laps to go, bringing out a yellow. Sheldon would pit and eventually finished 12th.
Keith Flach inherited the lead with Brett Haas alongside. On the restart, the two raced side-by-side through turns 1 and 2, then had contact on the backstretch. That contact resulted in Flach riding the outside wall before spinning in turn 3. Flach was ok.
Officials sent Haas to the rear for causing the crash, giving the lead to Curtis. The final laps were a complete scramble as contact was made and a couple of spins kept the field close. That allowed Bachetti to make a move from fourth on the restart at the start of lap 27 to get the lead a lap and a half later on the backstretch. From there, he held on for the win.
In the 358 Modifieds, Donny Travaglin started from the pole, but lost his advantage early on to Joey Coppola. Coppola had a strong car and pulled away to a three-second lead.
Further back, Haas was on the move. After starting 12th, Haas quickly moved up the order, getting to fifth by lap 5. On lap 8, he took second away from Travaglin and tried to run down Coppola. He wasn’t making much progress.
Then, Kim LaVoy and Guy Sheldon collided to bring out the race’s first caution on lap 10, erasing Coppola’s 3.8 second lead.
On the restart, Haas dove to the inside in turns 1 and 2 to take the lead. Once out front, he drove away as Coppola fell into the clutches of Curtis. Curtis took second with five laps to go, but was too far back until a caution flew on lap 21 for a Brady Cordova spin.
With two laps to go, Curtis was able to put the moves on Haas to take the lead. From there, he was able to hold on for the win. Haas was second, then Bachetti, Coppola and Jeff Watson.
In Sportsman, Karl Barnes started from pole, but got off to a bad start, resulting in Anthony Maxon claiming the advantage. The stack up resulted in Tim Hartman Jr. being able to make a big move from 11th on the grid into the top-three.
Brady Cordova had a tire failure to bring out a caution only two laps into the race. On the restart, Hartman was able to get around Maxon for the lead. Shortly afterwards, Maxon spun and hit the wall in turn 3 to bring out another yellow.
On the restart, Nick Giardini was able to briefly take the advantage from Hartman, but Hartman battled back and retook the lead a lap later. From there, Hartman was able to pull away to take his second win of the year.
Hartman won by 2.791 seconds over Giardini. Dylan Grogan was third, then Alex Bell and Michael Sabia.
In Limited Sportsman, the race was a duel between Dylan Holmes and Cam Van Zandt at the front until Van Zandt was spun out by Brandon Lemaire. From there, Holmes held on to win his first Lebanon Valley feature. Brian Walsh was second, then Colby Kokosa, John Santolin and Harold Robitaille.
The Pro Stock feature saw Rick Duzlak start from pole and run well. Behind him, Zach Sorrentino was moving forward from sixth on the grid.
A spin for Rocco Procopio in turn 4 brought the field back together on lap 8. That allowed Sorrentino to go after Duzlak for the lead. The two ran each other hard and had contact on the frontstretch coming to halfway. Sorrentino was able to get past Duzlak for the lead, but the contact was costly for Duzlak as a mechanical failure ended his night shortly afterwards.
From there, Sorrentino was able to hold off a late charge from Frank Twing to take the win by .530 seconds. Dave Stickles was third, followed by Tom Dean and Chris Stalker.
In Street Stocks, Dave Streibel Jr. took his first win of the year. Jason Peck won the 4-Cylinder feature overall and in the Dual-Cam class. Bradley Batho won the Single-cam class.
