Mosack Shows Great Pace at Martinsville And Gains Positions in Standings: Connor Mosack, driver of the No. 81 Friends of Jaclyn FoundationChevrolet Silverado RST

Connor Mosack displayed the speed and fortitude at Martinsville Speedway that will make him a threat this season before collecting a 25th-place finish. The driver of the No. 81 Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Chevrolet Silverado RST was one of the fastest trucks throughout the evening at “The Paperclip”, ran inside the top-five and drove through the field after a penalty before contact cut a tire in the final laps. Despite the finishing result, Mosack’s 14 stage points helped him gain another three positions in the standings to 19th.

Mosack turned in his best short track qualifying run to-date in his young career by posting the 11th-quickest lap in time trials. He immediately went forward from the drop of the green flag and climbed into the top five prior to a caution on lap 24. Mosack took advantage of restarting on the bottom lane to claim fourth position and earned seven points at the end of Stage 1 at lap 50.

Crew chief Blake Bainbridge kept Mosack on track during the first stage caution to preserve his track position and the call paid dividends for the No. 81 team. Mosack’s truck continued to carry long-run pace during the second segment and was scored fourth, despite a tight balance, at the end of Stage 2 on lap 100.

Mosack pitted during the second stage caution for four tires, fuel, and a minor adjustment. His evening hit a snag on lap 121 when he was nabbed for changing lanes before the start/finish line on a restart. After serving a pass-through penalty, he was scored a lap down, but regained his lap when a caution flew on lap 157. He took advantage to take fresh tires and lined up 24th for a restart on lap 166. He rocketed through the field to 15th by lap 186 and was scored 10th on lap 193. However, the contact during the late race fury cut down a tire and relegated Mosack to a 25th-place finish, yet he totaled 26 points on the night.

Connor Mosack Quote:

“Just tough to run that well and have the pace we did and not get the finish to show for it. We kept our Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Chevy up front the first half to get some points, and that kind of saved our night. I got that restart penalty, but we still have a fast enough truck to come back into the top-10 late in the race, but just got caught up in the chaos at the end. It was great to have the speed we did, so hopefully we can start getting the finishes we deserve soon.”
