Pre-Race Report

Quotes for the upcoming Norwalk race –
Cruz Pedregon, two-time Funny Car World Champion

“Norwalk is in my ‘top five’ racetracks on the circuit, mainly because it’s always a big event. The venue holds a lot of people there. The track President Bill Bader does a great job for all the families and the fans who attend the race.”

“Northern Ohio is such a great market for drag racing. The state has a rich history of the sport, going back to the Columbus days. Our primary sponsor, Snap-on, has so many great franchisees in the area, so we’ll do a double-wide hospitality and look forward to everyone visiting the pit. It’s going to be a busy week for us, but we’ll be ready for it.”

“We won Norwalk in 2021, and my daughter was there for it. So, it really meant a lot to get that win and share those moments with her. And we’re looking forward to doing it again…getting another win at Norwalk.”

“We did struggle last week, no doubt about it. The humidity made it more difficult, but we’re ready to get our batteries charged back up for Norwalk. The forecast is for temperatures to be in the mid-80s, so it should be perfect for drag racing.”

Names on the side of Cruz’s car – Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Clay Tomer and Memorial Decal for the late Dale Suiter

● You’ll see two names on the side of Cruz’s car this week. First, the Cruzer is recognizing Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Clay Tomer.
● Clay remembers going to the drag races as a child with his grandfather, dad, and uncle. He’s invited them to join him this weekend, and they’ll get to see his name on the Snap-on Dodge.
● He and his dad are restoring street cars to get them ready to race at local venues. They raced several years ago, and Clay says they’re ready to get back on the track.
● He’s been with Snap-on for 10 years and says he gets to “do different things every day” and “meet new, interesting people.”

● You’ll also see another name on the side of Cruz’s car…this one is in memory of 30-year Snap-on Franchisee Dale Suiter, who passed away just before Father’s Day.
● Dale was a coal mine foreman before Snap-on and spent many years bracket-racing in his free time.
● His son Cory now has his Snap-on route, serving three generations of customers.
● Snap-on has a long history of brand enthusiasts like these franchisees. As Cruz’s primary sponsor, Snap-on is asking fans of the brand and NHRA racing to follow Makers and Fixers on Instagram and submit their inspiring stories to makersandfixers.com.
