Cruz PedregonNHRA Carolina Nationals – ConcordPre-Race Report

News of Note:
Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Cruz Pedregon and primary sponsor Snap-on are marking the 10th anniversary of “Socket to Breast Cancer” with a never-before-seen tribute to breast cancer warriors on the Snap-on Dodge’s new paint scheme.

Quotes for the upcoming Concord race –
Cruz Pedregon, two-time Funny Car World Champion

“We’re looking forward to debuting the new breast cancer awareness body for the Pink Fund and Kelly Shires Foundation. Snap-on does great work to support them, and we’re grateful to be part of it and honored to fly those colors again.”

“The Snap-on Dodge is going to be ready to roll after a solid event in Reading. It was the first round of the playoffs, and we made it to the quarterfinals. Qualified in the top half of the field for the third time in a row and went a couple of rounds.”
“The needle’s pointing up for us, and we’re headed in the right direction. The track conditions were tough, with a lot of cars spinning their tires, but we’re looking forward to getting back at it on Friday.”

“Charlotte has been one of my favorite tracks for years. There’s a lot on the line, and it’s great for the fans. They’ll get to see some great racing here as it cools off. Just trying to get our spot, move up as far as we can in points, and finish the season off strong.”

Name on the side of Cruz’s car – Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Joe Rogers
● Check the name of the Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Joe Rogers on the side of Cruz’s Funny Car this week, along with the “Socket to Breast Cancer” logo.
● In support of Snap-on’s “Socket to Breast Cancer” work for The Pink Fund, Joe says he’ll soon have his van stocked with pink tools.
● Joe was a merchandise manager for a major retailer before joining Snap-on 24 years ago. He now spends his days calling on customers, many of them in nearby performance shops.
● Friday night, Joe and several of his customers will enjoy a Snap-on-sponsored dinner in Cruz’s pit, where they will see many of the tools they sell used on the Funny Car.
● For professionals like Joe’s customers, Cruz’s primary sponsor Snap-on features Makers and Fixers on Instagram. It’s a platform where skilled trades professionals can share their career successes and inspire others to submit their stories to makersandfixers.com.

Special Guest – Snap-on Sales Developer and breast cancer survivor Renee Kirkland
● Renee, who’s been with Snap-on for 28 years, will be among Cruz’s guests on Friday night.
● After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, Renee says her diagnosis came early in the disease process, and the chemo, surgery, and radiation she underwent were successful treatment options for her.
● She says Snap-on’s support of the Pink Fund began a couple of years after her diagnosis. But since she was off work five months during her treatment, she can relate to the needs of those who apply for Pink Fund support. She’s been able to share news of its resources with teams and customers.
