GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY ROARS TO LIFE

EXCITING UPGRADES, THRILLING RACING, AND A SPECTACULAR SEASON KICKOFF!

The newly formed Mid-Atlantic Promotions, LLC kicked off its first-ever event at Georgetown Speedway on Saturday, March 15th, with a highly successful Test & Tune session. The day began with overcast skies and lingering concerns about the weather as Mother Nature loomed over the facility. However, just after lunchtime, the sun broke through, providing a beautiful afternoon and evening that set the stage for an exciting start to the 2025 racing season.

With free admission for all spectators and beautiful weather, fans flocked to the grandstands to witness not only the on-track action but also the impressive upgrades throughout the facility. Spectators and racers alike were amazed at the numerous improvements, many of which are still ongoing. A state-of-the-art scoring and timing tower was utilized for the first time following its recent construction, made possible by contributions from J&J Shops in Laurel, Wesley Collins Builders of Millsboro, and several other dedicated supporters. Fresh coats of paint revitalized the main grandstand, while brand-new bleacher boards provided a more comfortable viewing experience.

One of the standout additions was the installation of a cutting-edge Daktronics Scoreboard in the infield. The massive digital display was powered up for the first time during Saturday’s session, with minor technical adjustments still being fine-tuned. Atop the scoreboard, a newly repurposed lightbox will soon feature prominent branding from Insinger Performance. Fans also got a first glimpse of the venue’s rebranding efforts, as AD Art in Georgetown, Delaware, has begun incorporating the new Georgetown Speedway logo, starting with the freshly installed Turn 1 Billboard.

A major enhancement to the fan experience comes with the arrival of Etta’s Catering, which has taken over all concession operations for the 2025 season. During the Test & Tune event, the team conducted a successful trial run in the pit area, serving up delicious food for racers and teams, ensuring everyone stayed fueled for the night’s activities.

Additional facility improvements are set to begin this week. Starting Tuesday, new poles, lights, and speakers will be installed along the front stretch, significantly enhancing visibility and audio quality for both fans and competitors. These upgrades will contribute to a brighter and more immersive race night atmosphere for all in attendance.

Track preparation played a crucial role in the success of the Test & Tune event, with Jamie Friesen ensuring the racing surface was in immaculate condition. Thanks to his meticulous track work, racers were able to take full advantage of the pristine conditions, allowing them to fine-tune their setups and get a great feel for their cars ahead of the competitive season.

To further enhance the overall experience, Georgetown Speedway has implemented new entrance procedures designed to expedite entry for both spectators and pit gate access. These enhancements include the ability to accept credit and debit card payments, providing printed receipts for all transactions, and the introduction of a dedicated area in the pits where season pass holders can conveniently scan in using their MyRacePass season passes. These improvements aim to streamline the check-in process, reducing wait times and making entry into the speedway smoother than ever before.

The excitement continues as Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday, March 28th, with the prestigious Mark “Coot” Williams Memorial presented by Capstone Homes. This highly anticipated event will feature a thrilling lineup of divisions, headlined by the Stockley Speed & Supply Super Late Models competing in a 26-lap showdown, with the winner taking home an impressive $3,026 in honor of Williams’ iconic car number 26. Additionally, the Millman’s NAPA Auto Parts Modifieds will battle for 25 laps, with a $2,626 prize awaiting the victor. The Blue Hen Dispose-All 602 Sportsman Modifieds and the First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models will each compete in 20-lap features, with winners earning $1,026. Rounding out the evening’s action, fans will also see the Southern Delaware Racing Club and the Delmarva Chargers hit the track.
