Bad Luck Returns as Wood Gets Caught Up in the Martinsville Chaos-Jack Wood, driver of the No. 91 Adaptive One Calipers Chevrolet Silverado RST

Jack Wood, driver of the No. 91 Adaptive One Calipers Chevrolet Silverado RST started out his Martinsville race day by setting the No. 91 Chevrolet in the 17th position to start The Boys and Girls of The Blue Ridge 200 at the 0.526-mile oval. As a multitude of cautions started to fall right off the bat, the young driver reported he is really free on exit and having trouble handling. Wood fought through the yellow flags and ultimately settled for a 21st-place Stage One finish. Crew chief Kevin Bellicourt called the No. 91 down pit road under the stage break for four tires and fuel and sent the young driver on his way to restart Stage Two 21st.

It was a relatively quiet stage for the Loomis, Calif. native as he settled in mid-pack and stayed out of the chaos for a 19th-place Stage Two finish. The team made the call to stay out and get the chance to start up front on clean air to gain positions for the young driver in hopes of stage points at the end. Wood restarted the final stage third where he remained for a gaggle of laps until a left-front tire going down saw him to fall back in line to 24th. The driver of the No. 91 was called down pit road under green for four fresh tires and some Sunoco race fuel. Wood was starting to climb deep into the field and gain his spots back until a spin with 22 laps to go collected the unlucky driver and sent him back to the back of the field.

Wood held on as the there was no significant damage that would have made him come to pit road. The driver of the No. 91 Adaptive One Calipers Chevrolet submerged to a 19th-place finish at Martinsville. Tonight’s field of chaos pushed the young driver back to 18th in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series driver standings at 138 markers behind the leader.

Jack Wood Quote:

“I am not really sure when luck is going to come our way but I sure hope it comes soon. This No. 91 team works so hard day in and day out and I just wish we could get the results to prove that. We had good truck tonight just battled a little bit of tight conditions and trying to find track position to move up. I have faith in this No. 91 team that we will get out of this funk and hopefully be able to turn our luck around in Bristol.”
