WALL, NJ ~ Andrew Krause raced to his second straight Modified stock car victory Saturday night during Father’s Day weekend festivities at Wall Stadium Speedway. It was the second win of the season for the Holmdel resident.
Dover’s James Pritchard jumped to the lead at the outset of the contest before Jackson’s Blake Barney slipped into the lead on the inside lane on lap two. Moments later Krause also charged into second and that set up a battle that would several laps. Krause was fiannly able to charge into the lead on lap 12 and that left Barney to fight off the advances of Derek Hopkinson of Milltown starting near the halfway point.
As Krause led the Barney/Hopkinson battled raged until lap 29 when the duo touched and Barney went spinning. Hopkinson was then instructed to go to the rear of the field as officials felt that he contributed to the spin.
Krause then raced to victory of an impressive Tyler Ferris of Freehold. Bryan O’Shea of Neptune City, in Krause’s team car, was third, with Pritchard and Teddy Cranmer of Colts Neck completing the top five.
The Factory Stocks battled in two 20 lap features with Shanon Mongeau of Island Heights winning both events after taking the lead near halfway. In the first race Rob Anderton Scott Riggleman, Matt Badessa and Gary Burton wrapped up the top five. In the second main event Kyle Anderton, Scott Riggleman, James Hall and Rob Anderton were second through fifth.
After being sent to the rear of the field by officials for what they said was causing another driver’s spin, Mike Alcaro of West Milford raced through the pack to victory in the 25 lapper for the Legend Cars. Jack Gerzabek, Bryan Gardella, Eugene Drew and Joe Przybylinski, Jr. were second through fifth.
After countless top finishes and even a driving championship last season, Chris Silvestri was finally able to claim his first Sportsman win in the first of two 20 lappers. Jonathan Laureigh, Ricky Collins, Kevin Davison and Billy Both were second through fifth. In the Sportsman nightcap Zach Lenardo of Iselin crossed the line, but was not able to pass post race tech. That handed to win the Lanoka Harbor’s Laureigh, followed by Quinn Trimmer, Davison, Collins and Silvestri
