Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio features ARCA Menards Series and mix of vintage and contemporary racing starting today

Event will feature 20 total races headlined by Zinsser SmartCoat 150 tonight at 6 p.m. ET
LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 21, 2024) – The Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio returns to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend (June 21-23) for its 42nd annual edition. The longest continuously-running event at the legendary track will feature ARCA Menards Series stock car action today plus a mix of vintage and contemporary racing action five SpeedTour series.

The ARCA Menards Series headlines the first day of the event with the Zinsser SmartCoat 150 beginning tonight at 6 p.m. ET. The 42-lap, 94.836-mile (152.624 kilometers) race on the renowned North Central Ohio circuit is the first of just two road course competitions on the series’ 2024 schedule. The field consists of several notable drivers including NTT INDYCAR SERIES veterans Marco Andretti and Conor Daly.

The extensive SpeedTour lineup adds 19 more races to a jam-packed weekend schedule. Historic Sportscar Vintage Racing Association action will provide car enthusiasts history in motion on track. Contemporary racing machines from the ground-pounding Trans Am Series muscle cars will also be showcased. Finally, open-wheel rising stars racing in the Formula Regional Americas Championship, Formula 4 U.S. Championship and Ligier JS F4 Series round out the diverse schedule.

Drivers to watch in Trans Am competition include Paul Menard who has won two consecutive TA class races, Chris Dyson who has earned five-consecutive podiums at Mid-Ohio, and Ohio natives Amy Ruman (Stow, Ohio) and Matt Tifft (Cleveland, Ohio). Trans Am feature races will take place at 12:40 p.m. ET on both Saturday and Sunday.

Another local driver – Aaron Quine, The Mid-Ohio School driving instructor – will take to the track this weekend. Quine will compete in a 1964 Corvette Coupe in SVRA Group 6 races. Group 6 consists of selected big-bore production sports cars and sedans through 1972.

“This (car) is basically the same as my dad’s ‘66 Corvette I learned in 34 years ago,” Quine said via social media post. “(I’m) thankful for the opportunity to go back to where it all started for me.”

In addition to the on-track action, the Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio provides fans tremendous access to the cars and drivers. The paddock and garage areas are open all weekend for fans to explore. On both Saturday and Sunday, spectators will also have the unique opportunity to walk down pit lane, approach cars and drivers, get autographs and take pictures during the Trans Am pre-race Fan Walks from 12:00 p.m. to 12:25 p.m. ET.

Another autograph opportunity takes place on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET in the paddock with the F4 United States Championship, FR Americas Championship and Ligier JS F4 driver autograph session. Additionally, car enthusiasts can enjoy car shows on both Saturday (British Car Showdown) and Sunday (Concours d’Elegance) in the infield.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course offers an exceptional family value. Children 12 and under are admitted free to Mid-Ohio when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Free parking is available.
