USMTS rained out at RPM Speedway

The 3rd Annual North Texas Nationals featuring the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt won’t happen this weekend as saturated grounds are expected to get even more soaked before tomorrow and into the weekend.

With a Flash Flood Warning in effect for the region through Saturday, the event for this Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas, is officially rained out.

“This race will not be made up,” bemoaned USMTS promoter Todd Staley. “We will try and find another venue to keep the ARMI Contractors Southern Region with enough races—most likely in August, September or October. Will announce that when we figure out a date and track.

“Get out and support your weekly tracks.”

It’s the eighth and ninth nights of racing to be rained out this year—the tenth if you include King of America XIII which was twice washed out in March and April.

Just eight nights of racing are complete as the relentless road warriors head north for drier pastures and a five-day Memorial Day Weekend marathon at five unique dirt ovals in three states.

Wednesday May 22, will be the only show of the swing in the Mel Hambelton Racing USMTS Central Region. The 14th Annual Spring Classic takes place at the Karl Chevrolet Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa—the oldest racing facility in the Hawkeye State.

From there it’s four straight shows in the Collins Brothers Towing USMTS North Region presented by Featherlite, which gets going on Thursday, May 23, at the Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa, for the 11th Annual War in West Union.

Along with USMTS Modifieds racing for $3,000 to win each night, four more classes will complete program as USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners battle for Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series points on Wednesday and Thursday.

The wildly popular Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., hosts the 12th Annual Spring Shootout built by LT Construction on Friday, May 24, before heading the most-visited venue in the 26-year history of the United States Modified Touring Series on Saturday, May 25, at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., and the 21st Annual LR Waste Services Southern MN Spring Challenge.

The USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks will both be in action on Friday and Saturday. USRA Stock Cars and USRA Late Models round out a five-class slate on Friday night at MTS.

The 120-hour grind wraps up Sunday, May 26, at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, for the 9th Annual Mod Mania which carries a $3,000 top prize to the USMTS winner. USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks and Outlaw Mini-Mods are also racing.
